About Dia Mirza:

Dia Mirza is a perfect example of “Beauty with a brain”.  Dia is an Indian movie actress, model, and social worker. Initially, she worked as a model. Meanwhile, she gained popularity for Bollywood. However, later she used her fame for the welfare of general people and create awareness on the environment, lifestyle, etc.

Personal Life:

 Dia Mirza was born on 9th December 2019 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Originally her name was Dia Handrich. Her nickname is “Dee”. She was born in a mixed culture. Her parents were Frank Handrich and Deepa. Frank Handrich was German. He was an architect, interior designer and lived in Munich. Meanwhile, Deepa came from a Bengali family. She was an interior designer as well.

At the age of 4, Dia saw her parents got divorced. Later, her mother married Ahmed Mirza. As per her step-father, she adopted her last name “Mirza”. Dia mentioned her father was a hero to her. She believed it from her heart. However, she also stated her step-father was an amazing person as well. Both of them is a father to her. Dia stated that her step-father and mother decided not to take any children to raise her.  In a post in social media, Dia posted some photos from Germany. Dia mentioned that she was searching for her original root in there.

At first, she was admitted into Vidyaranya High School. Later, her step-father enrolled her into Nasr School. It was a prominent girls school. Dia Mirza mentioned, this school helped to her morale. Furthermore, after school, she admits to Stanley Junior College. Later she completed a Bachelor of Arts from Ambedkar Open University. Regarding the religious view, Dia believes it could not be the identity of one person rather it should be discovered over the course of time.

Marriage Life:

Dia Mirza married Sahil Sangha. Sahil was her long business partner. They met while Sahil went to Dia to show a movie’s script.  Later they started a film production company, known as “Born Free Entertainment”. They had a couple of venture from that production company. Also, they wish to start a production house where a newbie producer would have a chance to step forward. This couple spotted multiple times in different events. However, it took a long time to finally announce their union. Dia mentioned in some interviews that she though Sahil might propose her after marriage. Finally, this couple married on October 18, 2014.


Mirza was always focused on her financial freedom. While she worked in Neeraj’s Multi-Media Studio. It was a media firm. Dia had the role of marketing executive there. Furthermore, she also grabbed the attention of some media personalities. It allowed her to work as a model. During that time, she worked in the advertisement of Lipton and Wall’s Ice Cream. However, her life changed while she won Miss Asia Pacific in 2000.

Despite her accomplished in the beauty pageant show, she did not stop there. She involved in some workshops to gain much knowledge. Also, she wanted to pursue regular studies but it was difficult for her to continue. Meanwhile, she entered into the Indian movie industry. Her first movie was “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein”, a film of Vashu Bhagnani. However, this movie failed to shake the box office but Dia was able to show her acting aptitudes. Since then she worked in numerous top movies including Deewanapan, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Tumko Na Bhool and Salam Mumbai. In 2018, her work in movie Sanju (a biopic of Sanjay Dutt) shattered the box office. Apart from the movie, Dia Mirza has worked in several web series recently.

Movie Production and Direction:

Along with her husband, Dia introduced a production house. From the production house, this couple has released “Love, breakup and Zindegi” and “Bobby Jassos”, these two movies.

Voice of environmental activism and face of community service:

Dia Mirza decided to use her fame for the betterment of society. Dia is highly active for the aid of cancer and AID patients. This multi-talented artist worked with Andhra Pradesh authority in order to create awareness about HIV. Meanwhile, she is a member of multiple associations including Coca-Cola, PETA for the development of general people. With Radio Mirchi, she worked in a program called “Deke Dekho” to collect books for poor children.

Mirza is very much active in environmental activities. She is a co-founder of Wildlife Trust of India’s Club Nature. She adopted two Cheetah as well. Also, she was found in different places to work on the development of the environment.

United Nation’s acknowledge these activities of Dia and named her as the advocate of UN sustainable development with some top personalities of the world.
